Donruss helps Bobby Bragan raise over $134,000

The numbers are in and with the help of the Donruss Trading Card Company, the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation was able to raise a record $134,000 for students from public schools across the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Donruss brought Hall of Famer Willie Mays to town to accept the Bobby Bragan Lifetime Achievement Award. Since 1992, past award winners including Joe DiMaggio, Bud Selig, Charlie Pride and Hank Aaron have helped raise over $800,000 for deserving youngsters. Students are chosen based on financial need, academic achievement and extra-curricular activity demonstrating all-around citizenship and community involvement.

"We are so grateful for the incredible support that Donruss has given the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation in recent years," says former Major League Baseball Manager Bobby Bragan. "From sponsoring our annual gala to hosting a luncheon for Hank Aaron, they have truly demonstrated their commitment to the youth in our community."

The evening kicked off with an auction run by former Rangers manager and current Chiba Lotte Marines world champion Bobby Valentine. Willie later took the stage and offered to fly a group out to his suite for a game in San Francisco. He tried throw in the actual suit he was wearing, but as he started to shed layers, Donruss stepped up to take that one and let Willie keep the shirt on his back and the suit in his wardrobe. The evening ended with a question and answer session lead by Hall of Famer Tommy Lasorda, with the likes of Maury Wills, Jim Sundberg, Doug Melvin and Tom Grieve throwing out questions to the panel.

"The event was a lot of fun and was for a good cause," says Donruss Vice President Jim Dryden. "We've formed a great relationship and since the youth of today are the focus, we will continue to support Bobby in any way that we can."
